Pioneering Innovations for a Clean and Sustainable City

Climate & Atmospheric Research for SEA

National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University

APAQ Group supported impactful studies on aerosols/haze pollution, building design and heat mitigation at Singapore’s leading universities, advancing knowledge vital to environmental management of the region.

LNG Terminal, Jurong Island

Singapore’s only LNG terminal has selected an advanced Gas Chromatograph analyser to provide targeted detection of Tetrahydro-thiophene (THT), a chemical odorant in the natural gas systems, to prevent the risk of leakage and explosion.

Micro-climate Sensor Network

A*Star Institute for Infocomm Research

Supporting the first national research programme on urban micro-climate simulation to mitigate Urban Heat Island effect, APAQ deployed an extensive network of micro-climate sensors, supporting model validation with over 90% data availability over a duration of 2 years.

Automatic VOC Measuring System

National Environmental Agency (NEA)

Supporting environmental regulation efforts, APAQ Group deployed Singapore’s first fully-automatic Gas Chromatograph system that is able to measure up to 64 Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the ambient air.

Compact Roadside Air Quality Monitoring Station

National Environmental Agency (NEA)

APAQ installed the first compact roadside air quality station based on USEPA reference analysers, that fit within just 1.6 square meters on the grass verge of Orchard Road.

Reference Heat Stress (WBGT) Network

APAQ designed and deployed Singapore’s first outdoor heat stress monitoring system, based on ISO7243-compliant Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) sensors. Singapore became the first country in the region to issue public health advisories on heat stress based on this data, accessible through the government portal and mobile app.

Cool Coating
Sensor Verifications

Supporting Singapore Green Plan 2030, APAQ Group led a research project for HDB with over 200 micro-climate sensors deployed in various residential estates to verify the effectiveness of cool paints to reduce temperature, improve thermal comfort and cut energy consumption.

Advancing Air Quality Solutions for Industry Transition

Indonesia is a vast country with rich resources and great potential to be the economic powerhouse of the region. At the same time, it needs to urgently address the growing air quality issues with environmental regulation and technology development in its cities and industrial areas.

 

APAQ Group partnered with government, NGOs and industry leaders to champion reference standards, laying the foundation for good air quality regulation.

The pulp factory has selected our USEPA reference gas analyser solution, together with remote assistance, calibration, and upgrading since 2019 to meet sustainability commitments.

Industrial Safety Monitoring in Viscose Fibre Plant

The leading viscose fibre plant in Java selected APAQ group to supply and install 2 compact air quality stations at the plant site to protect health and safety since 2013. Thanks to the remote diagnosis function of the software, we have provided technical support through the pandemic.

Monitoring Urban Air Quality in Jakarta

World Resources Institute & Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Jakarta

As part of the Clean Air Catalyst Initiative, APAQ group has installed air quality monitoring systems across 7 locations in Jakarta. These systems track critical pollutants affecting urban health, and the data forms the basis for future programs aimed at improving air quality in the city.

ExxonMobil, Indonesia

APAQ Group implemented a compact AQMS to monitor key gas parameters near ExxonMobil’s operations. This system provided real-time air quality data, helping ExxonMobil comply with regulatory standards while addressing environ-mental concerns from local residents.

Regulatory AQMS in Offshore Natural Gas Production

HCML selected APAQ Group as the partner to provide 2 USEPA reference air quality stations in Pulau Mandangin of Madura Strait, as part of its social responsibility programme to monitor sulfur dioxide emissions from natural gas production and protect local communities. The stations were successfully commissioned in 2023.

Airshed Management Plan for Nickel Mining Operations

APAQ Group was engaged by Vale Indonesia to conduct a regional Air Dispersion Model (ADM) study using CALPUFF mode, to evaluate the air quality impact from the major expansion project of the nickel smelting operations in Sulawesi, and to propose appropriate mitigation measures.

Mobile AQMS for Traffic Pollution Assessment
