IAEA Awards Tender For BATAN Project Under UNDP
APAQ Group is very proud to be awarded a tender from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for Badan Tenaga Nuklir Nasional (BATAN) Project under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Indonesia to supply Met One's Speciation Air Sampler System (SuperSASS). BATAN is the National Nuclear Energy Agency for Indonesia.
A detailed analysis of the chemical composition of particulate matter is important to investigate the origins of pollution and its relationship with health effects. SuperSASS collects outdoor ambient airborne particles with diameters smaller than 2.5μm (i.e. PM2.5) and perform chemical and gravimetric analysis to determine the concentration of chemicals present. The typical chemical composition include sulphates, nitrates, organic carbon, soot-like carbon and metals. Under a contract with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA), the system was specifically designed by Met One Instruments to comply and exceed the speciation specifications. The data from SuperSASS could also be used to perform source attribution analyses, evaluate emission inventories and air quality models, and support health related research studies and regional haze assessments.
